About My Visual Merchandising Experience


 

Demonstrating a rich background in window displays and visual merchandising, I have had the privilege of collaborating with world-renowned fashion brands. Notable names in my portfolio include Boy London, Diesel, Dr. Martens, Evisu Jeans, Harmont and Blaine, Kenzo, Lacoste, Lee, Levi’s, MCQ, Miki House, Munsingwear, and Paul Smith. My experience encompasses translating brand aesthetics into captivating retail experiences, strategically elevating the visual appeal of these iconic labels and contributing to their overall market presence.

Kid’s Cavern was one of my favorite brand identity projects while working in the New Yaohan Department Store. It was a completely free-handed project for me to work on from the ground up. No string attached whatsoever! The system consists of all the tangible elements including the mascot character illustrations, shopping bags, type phrases, visual merchandising, and the marketing collaterals that make up the look and feel of the brand. The result is one of the most recognizable brands in the Greater Bay Area in China where its main competitor was the mighty Toy’s “R” Us. A strong brand leaves nothing to chance!

I led a comprehensive project focused on enhancing the Point of Purchase (POP) and product posters for Watson’s Pharmacy chain stores. Leveraging strategic design principles, the initiative aimed to create visually compelling displays that captivate customer attention and drive engagement. The project involved a meticulous analysis of consumer behavior, competitor landscapes, and brand identity to develop targeted and impactful designs. Through this endeavor, we successfully elevated the in-store experience, optimizing the promotional impact of Watson’s products and reinforcing the brand’s presence in the competitive retail environment.

In Asia, Chinese New Year is one of the single most celebrated festivals of the year. For a retail business, it is the prime-time for spending new clothes, premium groceries, and houseware for your family as well as buying gifts of fortune for your friends and business partners.

To seize the golden opportunity and to entice customers to increase their spending, I managed to create a series of in-store decorations, window displays, an exclusive red pocket gift set for VIP members, and a supremely successful digital lucky draw promotion.

As a result, the overall sales have grown 15% year-over-year for the same period. The project was also featured on VMSD magazine with great reviews.
